[one_half_last]Eve-Yasmine is a 17 year old teen presenter best known for her celebrity interviews and teen journalism! A keen networker like myself I caught up with her to find out more about what she does and what her goals and aspirations are in life.[/one_half_last]
She says to young people:
Don’t wait for opportunities, make them yourselves…
Q1: How would you describe yourself? Tell me about yourself.
I’m a very determined person and I’m working hard to get myself out there and achieve my dream. Currently alongside my studies I’m now a video content editor at Live Magazine – which is youth-run! Everyone there is so inspiring and gifted with a love for creativity! I love culture, challenges and people. I previously have trained in Taekwondo and performed in a Bollywood dance group. 2012 has started well and I’m super excited to see what this year brings!
Q2:How do you define success?
For me success is an achievement over something you’re passionate about, something you’ve worked hard for or made happen.
Q3:What do you consider to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
One of my strengths is networking, I really do enjoy meeting new people. I am a bit of a workaholic so I’d say one of weaknesses is pacing myself with the work load – I am improving though!
Q4:What’s one of the hardest decisions you’ve ever had to make?
Hmm…I haven’t had any really hard decisions to make as of yet. I’m just seizing the moment! However when I was debating whether to come out from my studies to explore the world of entertainment that was tricky as there was so much involved but I’m glad I did take a mini gap year, it was a great learning curve.
Q5:Do you consider yourself to be successful?
It depends what you see as successful. In my opinion of the word success, I feel I am going in the right direction and the work I’ve done so far has been really enjoyable, the road is long…I’m just continuing to go with the flow and see what happens!
Q6:What do you see yourself doing five years from now? Ten years from now?
I’d love to do what I’m doing now on a bigger scale – presenting on mainstream TV and getting involved with large film projects and even bigger events. In ten years, I’d like to be in a position where I have a role that enables me to help more people. Charity work has always been a cause close to my heart. I’m presenting a show this February in aid of The Peace Hospice – if I can help raise awareness of more charities, that would be incredible.
Q7:What piece of advice would you give to young people today?
Don’t wait for opportunities, make them yourselves and utilise social media – it’s so powerful and is a brilliant free way of getting the attention of people that could potentially be important to you in your career.
Q8:Do you have a role model? If any who & why?
Yes definitely. My mum is my role model. She is always there for me and is such a loving person with an intelligent mind full of positivity. Angelina Jolie is also a role model I admire. She trained in martial arts, has an outstanding acting career, gets involved with charities and is a mother to 6 (just like my mum) – I think she is amazing.
Q9:What/who inspired you to choose the career path you’ve chosen?
It was a gut feeling, no matter what was said around me deep down I always knew I wanted to work into entertainment. My mum has encouraged me and my family have been really supportive. Overall though I did it because I wanted to do it.
Q10:Are you currently studying? If so where and what subjects?
Yes, I’m still at college part-time doing a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts and absolutely love it. I feel my balance between work and studies is just right.
Q11: What has been your most memorable achievement?
Getting the attention of RedOne on Twitter and flying out to Morocco to interview him – he is an A list music producer who has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Enrique, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Michael Jackson and even Quincy Jones. He is so humble and was a pleasure to interview.
